October Meeting Wrap-up - Next Meeting November 17th, 6:30 PM

Dear Friends,

Last night we had a joyful time of fellowship together as Patrick opened our expositional study of Ephesians in the first verses of Ephesians. We welcomed several new folks to our study and we look forward to getting to know them better. If the fellowship time after the study was any indication, I don't think that this will be a problem :-)

After a light supper of sloppy joes, we sat down and we gave a brief overview of the study and the work we have been doing in the Asheville/Fletcher area for our new guests. After a sweet time of singing, Patrick started the Bible study portion. After going over some of the basic background (identifying Paul as the writer, the approximate date ~62 AD, the likely recipients Ephesians, Paul's relationship with the Ephesians (cf. Acts 20)) Patrick then focused on the key words "saints in Ephesus who are faithful in Christ Jesus" in verse one. We examined what a saint was as defined by the Bible - anyone who is in Christ Jesus. We then examined what it meant to be faithful. We talked about true faith and what that looks like and is. Patrick challenged us all to examine ourselves to see if we are indeed to be found faithful in Christ.

Please note that our next meeting in November will be the 17th at 6:30 PM at the Hostetlers again. If you need directions or more information please email us using the link on the right side of this page.

And, as we stated in the study, if anyone has any questions or reflections about anything we talked about in the study, feel free to post them on any of the threads (including this one). See you in November!

The Fall Session - Moving Indoors! First Fall Meeting October 27th

Dear all,

I apologize for not updating the blog, it has been a bit of a crazy beginning of semester for John and I.

So to those who inquired, yes, we are planning to meet throoughout the fall. We are also planning to make some changes for the fall/winter. To those who were there at our last rather chilly meeting in the park, I'm sure you'll be pleased that our fall/winter meetings are going indoors!

We will be holding monthly Bible studies starting in the Epistle to the Ephesians. We will also be changing our meeting location for the immediate future. Our Bible study will be held in Hendersonville as we don't yet have a location in Fletcher/Asheville to meet at the moment. As soon as I get better directions to the Hostetler home, I will put them up here. The directions I currently have are something like: "turn right at the development that kind of looks like a state park and go a while until it looks like the right street..." Strangely this makes sense to me. I grew up in a city that was designed on a grid, but, since I have arrived in the Carolinas, I have soon learned that this does not necessarily hold true. As a result my personal sense of direction (which used to be fairly good when it came to north, south, east and west) has suffered a temporary breakdown.

So, stay tuned for directions and times. And to our supporters, thanks for all your prayers and concerns. Please continue to pray that the Lord will bless our efforts in the greater Asheville area.
